I may sound like a complete ass due to the content of this post, but, so be it.
I do not believe that the United States of America should be helping Haiti for a number of reasons. I believe that rather than raising money to aid the citizens of Haiti after the recent disaster, we, as Americans, should be starting up charities and raising funds to support the currently struggling United States. I realize that this may sound rather harsh, but please bear with me; to each his own. The unfortunate incident that occurred in Haiti (and it was unfortunate) should be dealt with by the Haitians — no one would aid us Californians in the event of a massive earthquake (which, I should add, is expected due to the plethora of wealth within the Californian borders).
Think for a moment though over the situation: no one cared in the slightest about or for Haiti until this disaster occurred.
I have a hypothesis regarding the reason for this as well.
People have sprung up countless charities that have raised millions of dollars for the victims, however, if one were to watch a news segment on television regarding the incident, the supplies being afforded some areas of Haiti do not appear to even scratch the mark of, say, one-hundred thousand dollars. My hypothesis, for those still wondering, is that the charities set up for relief are serving the wealthy within the U.S. rather than the needy in Haiti.

I would like to take a moment to assess the damage that is currently being done to the english language (primarily) by teenagers across the globe and by the media when targeting that audience.
Unless you live in a cave, one with no internet access, you have surely witnessed this phenomenon. People with Myspace profiles (generally in their teens) using countless acronyms (such as WTF, OMG, LOL, LMAO) for things that could be far more intelligibly expressed given the garden variety of words in any given dictionary. For example, one could say: “What was up with that?” in lieu of ‘WTF;’ one could say: “Oh my god, that’s unbelievable” rather than ‘OMG;’ one could say: “Haha, how hilarious was/is that?” or “That’s hilarious” instead of ‘LOL’ or ‘LMAO.’
Whichever route one chooses to take, so long as they are not abbreviating every other word and/or creating their own acronyms that are unintelligible to the rest of us, I, for one, will respect that person a great deal more.
Now, on to another aspect of the situation, you, the reader, may be asking yourself: “So? What’s the big deal?” The big deal is that the current operation of text-based communication amongst people in my age group and below (0-24) are communicating in a manner that promotes laziness, ignorance, and a lack of thought.
What strikes me as more frightening than the problem at hand is that because the media recognizes this trend and consequently advertises accordingly, using a plethora of acronyms, those not yet using a written means of communication are being programmed to believe this way to be an acceptable means by which to communicate.
Take the time to write correctly. The payoff outweighs the miniscule span of time saved via abbreviation.

“No new taxes” is and has been the popular ‘catch-phrase’ for Republican politicians — this foolish philosophy has not served us Americans so well. A conservative zealot has the right to praise Bush all he/she wants, but, the fact is: his frivolous, secretive, and probably illegal spending is what has, pardon my language, fucked the United States.
On a lighter note, Obama has thought up a way to recoup expenses from the bailout that took place in late 2008 as well as boost the government’s economic security. He has proposed taxing the banks which would generate a revenue of about $90 Billion in a decade which is not too shabby, however, I am sure that there is more that could be done.
One suggestion is a ceiling upon an individual’s assets set at, let’s say, $50 Million. Does anyone truly need more than that huge sum of money? I think not. If the Billionaires and possessors of hundreds of millions of dollars were to retire their greed and support the greater good which is the survival an economic security of their sovereign nation, the United States.

Tiger Woods, golf legend, has recently been discovered to also be an apparent legend with the ladies. Way to go Tiger.
Most people would argue that Woods’ extramarital transgressions are appalling as if they have never had problems practicing fidelity in a monogamous relationship. I, contrarily, would like to congratulate the man – have you seen these women? They are gorgeous. Not to say that his wife is a woman of lesser beauty, as she surely is not, but come on Americans – as if you have never cheated. Please.
I also have a number of criticisms, one aimed toward Woods, the majority, however, are directed at the media.
My only qualm with Tiger’s extramarital research is that it was extramarital research. He chose to get married; one should not do so unless one is willing to play by the rules. His behavior is sure to destroy his family; his kids will surely suffer. I do understand that he is currently in a sex rehab located in Arizona, which is great, but, he should have taken care of his little problem before it landed him on the contemptible side of the media’s spotlight.
My prejudices toward the media in this matter, as I have already stated, are more numerous.
Firstly, the media should not be able to publicize an individual’s private affairs simply because that individual happens to be one of the best golfers to have ever played the game. I mean, say I were married (which I am not), met a hotter woman with whom I had a stronger chemistry, and decided to sleep with her, the media would not be publicizing my blunder; if they did, I would file a lawsuit. They should not be able to publicize Tiger’s.
Another thing that ‘grinds my gears’ concerning the media is that they ask other celebrity’s opinions about the incident; if they wanted to disclose their thoughts on the matter, they might start a blog as I have done; they have not, so leave them alone.
Leave Tiger alone too. He has not caused you any harm, he is taking steps to alleviate himself of his ‘disease,’ and I am sure that he would prefer to deal with this matter privately; oh, and he could still crush you on the golf course.

Modern Society
By
J Scott Runia
Money and drugs, sex and power –
The joys of this age make devils cower.
All want to live lives of glitz and glamour –
Surely society has become quite sour.
Like milk that remains past expiration,
Our societal blunders have brought devastation
At men, women, children of every nation,
Society glares – a beautiful abomination.
Its beauty debated, its evil inherent.
What more can be said to make this apparent?
Should it be stated that the poor are dependant
Upon generosity that is often not spent –
Not on the poor, just on the rich.
Societal process; it sure is a bitch.
Never in history has there been a switch,
Darwinism persists; not even a hitch.

Hello world.
Before I begin the actual process of “blogging,” I would like to provide my audience (anyone interested) with an idea of what to expect.
This blog will cover a wide variety of topics that will only increase in diversity as time goes on; these topics will be of immense interest to me and hopefully, to you, my audience, as well.
The topics that I plan to cover include: The paradoxical nature of the United States, the unnerving dilemma caused by organized religion, the decline of morality in the United States, the positive and negative aspects of the internet, capitalism, socialism, and psychology.
The above list of topics is subject to change at anytime as I may desire to explore other noteworthy issues and/or phenomena.
Also, feel free to contact me with suggestions for further posts; if the suggestion catches my interest or if I have any knowledge relating to the suggestion, whatever it may be, I will post a blog covering that topic at my earliest convenience.
Finally, if you, the reader, happens to find my blog interesting, please encourage your friends, who may also be interested, to read it.
Thank you.
